Vaas, Udana test negative; Fernando tests positive again

Bangladesh Cricket Board assured that they have protocols in place for the match to go ahead

The first One-Day International between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will still be played on Sunday (May 23). It is learnt that Vaas and Udana had tested positive on the sample collected on May 18 but returned negative tests from the sample collected on May 22. However, Shiran Fernando continues to be positive and has been in isolation.

While the match is set to go ahead, Fernando won't join them for the game, and another round of confirmatory RT-PCR tests will be conducted on him today. Udana and Vaas, however, are allowed with the former even finding a spot in the playing XI.

A Sri Lanka Cricket official told AFP they had been "assured by the Bangladesh side that they have protocols in place for the match to go ahead unless a large number of our players test positive". The second and third ODI will be played on May 25 and 28 respectively.
