NEWSAfter going through a rough patch, leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahl finall has found his mojo and on Wednesday (September 29), he was named the player of the match for his magnificent spell of 2 for 18 from his four overs, that included the wickets of Mahipal Lomror and the dangerous Liam Livingstone.
Speaking of the strategy behind bowling to Lomror and Livingstone, Chahal in the post-match presentation said, Two left-handers were batting so Virat planned to go with the medium-pacers. I have watched his (Lomror) videos, he's very good on the leg-side. If he comes down, I will bowl wider. With Livingstone, I bowled a little bit slower."
Chahal further added that he found his confidence back in the Sri Lanka series. Chahal was the leading wicket-taker in the ODI series with five wickets from two matches and in the T20Is he managed just a solitary wicket from his only appearance.
"In the first half of IPL, I didn't get wickets in the first three-four matches. After the break, I backed myself. I bowled well in the Sri Lanka series and I got my confidence back. I wanted to maintain that momentum here," the leg-spinner added.
Chahal's teammate Glenn Maxwell scored his second fifty on the bounce to help RCB beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by seven wickets. He applauded his bowlers' effort for pulling things back after RR raced to 100 for 1 after 11 overs.
"I thought we played really well. They got off to an absolute flier and to bring them back in the last 10 overs was outstanding, then we controlled the tempo of the innings and finished it off," Maxwell said.
Speaking of his stint with RCB this season so far, the Australia all-rounder said, "I have felt good since coming here, got myself into a nice routine at training and outside of training as well, just feel like it is really clicking for me."
"I don't suppose it (the atmosphere) is different to any other franchise, just what we have created as a group. It is nice to have a bunch of guys doing different things and not relying on one guy. Everyone is chipping in and it has been a really enjoyable group so far," he added.
KS Bharat batting at No. 3 has received mixed response from all corners. But Maxwell says that the wicketkeeper is a top-class batsman. "I wouldn't call it (Bharat batting at No, 3) an experiment. He is a genuine top-class batter and the way he has gone about his innings is outstanding."
RCB are in action next against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday (October 3) in Sharjah. With this win over RR, they now have 14 points from 11 matches and are in third position in the IPL 2021 table.
