Sri Lanka will tour Oman to play a couple of T20 matches ahead of their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign. Sri Lanka's campaign at the mega event kick starts on October 18, where they take on Namibia in a Group A fixture in Abu Dhabi.
The two games against Oman will be played on October 7 and October 9, Sri Lank Cricket (SLC) announced in a media release. The release further added that Sri Lanka will also play two more warm-up matches against sides picked by the ICC on October 12 and 14.
"We are looking to play many games as possible leading into the World Cup in similar conditions the team will experience in the UAE. The games against Oman and the 2 ICC practice games will allow us this opportunity," said Ashley de Silva, CEO of SLC.
Sri Lanka will also take on Ireland (October 20) followed by Netherlands (October 22) in Abu Dhabi and Sharjah respectively in the T20 World Cup. Based on the results, it will be determined whether the 2014 champions make it to the Super 12 stage or not.
The T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by UAE and Oman, starting October 17.
