St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKNP) take on Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) in match 8 of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2021 at Warner Park, St Basseterre. Ground details
The fast bowlers have had a massive say in the matches so far at Warner Park this season. They have picked up over 71% of the wickets this season and have done so at a better runs per wicket (23) and balls per wicket (16.5) ratio compared to the spinners for whom the corresponding numbers are 25.2 and 23 respectively.
The only aspect spinners have the edge is the economy rate. They concede at 6.6 an over, while the pacers leak runs at 8.4 per over.
In fantasy cricket, the economy rate matters very less, hence it would be advisable that you stock your team with the fast bowler.
Only two of the six matches so far have been won by the team chasing. Winning the toss and putting up a total on the board seems to be the ideal way to go.
Captain
Shimron Hetmyer started the tournament off with a magnificent 41-ball 54 against Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and despite failing against the Patriots in the next match, the 24-year-old will look to bounce back in this match. In the CPL since 2020, only Lendl Simmons (366) and Glenn Phillips (401) have scored more runs in the tournament than Hetmyer (325). The southpaw has scored at a strike-rate of 12, which includes four fifties from 13 innings.
Our Criclytics player projector predicts Hetmyer will fetch 46 to 78 points in this match
X-Factors
Any T20 side in the world would be lucky to have the services of Imran Tahir, who ate the age of 42, continues to wreak havoc around the world. He has already picked up three wickets in two matches in this edition already, but he is also the leading wicket-taker in CPL since 2020, having snapped up 18 wickets at 15.7 to go with a miserly economy rate of 5.8. It would be daft to not have Tahir in your side.
Our Criclytics player projector predicts Tahir will fetch 58 to 87 points in this match
Dwayne Bravo might be aging, but like Tahir, his hunger to keep going and giving 100% in every match has not died down. He slammed an unbeaten 47 off 35 in the first match against the Royals to get things going in the tournament. Not to forget, he is more than a handy bowler, especially at the death, where he can pick up some quick wickets to drain the runs. In CPL since 2020, Bravo has picked up 10 wickets at a strike-rate of 22.4. With the bat, he has scored 300 runs at a strike-rate of 113.6 in this time frame.
Our Criclytics player projector predicts Bravo will fetch 16 to 48 points in this match
In the previous match against the same opposition, Evin Lewis had slammed 62 off 30, which included four fours and five sixes, before he was dismissed by Tahir. He has been a consistent performer in the CPL over the years. Since 2020, Lewis has slammed 282 runs at a strike-rate of 125 as an opener. Only Phillips (345) and Simmons (366) have scored more in this period.
Our Criclytics player projector predicts Lewis will fetch 27 to 41 points in this match
