St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (SKNP) face St Lucia Zouks in Match 13 of the 2019 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) at Warner Park, Basseterre. The Zouks ended the losing streak to notch up their first win of the tournament with a 5-wicket victory over Jamaica Tallawahs. However, after winning their third match against Tallawahs, SKNP have succumbed to two more losses – against Barbados Tridents and most recently to Guyana Amazon Warriors.
In the head-to-head, it is the Patriots who have the upper hand, having won four out of their previous seven meetings, while the Zouks have won just twice.
Weather and ground details
SKNP managed to chase down 242 against the Tallawahs which is the second highest successful chase in T20 history. Basseterre has been a high-scoring ground and we could see another match with 200-plus totals.
Just like most of the grounds in the Caribbean, the pacers have done the most damage at Warner Park in CPL since 2018. While they may have picked up more wickets, the spinners have picked up wickets at a better Average, economy rate and higher dot ball percentage.
No match at the venue has been hampered by rain and we should once again have a full game in. It might be a tad overcast, which might aid the fast bowlers.
Captain
Rahkeem Cornwall stunned the world with a powerful 30-ball 75 in his previous match against Jamaica Tallawahs. In his three innings in the tournament so far, Cornwall has a strike-rate of 257.14.
Englishman Laurie Evans has gotten off to starts in all the matches. His scores of 41, 64 and 26 has ensured his team has gotten off to a brisk start. He is a safer choice as captain, who has a strike-rate of almost 160 this season.
X-Factors
T20 format is collar made for Colin de Grandhomme, who with the bat can take the game away from the opposition in a matter of a few deliveries and with the ball, he is a clever operator, who can pick wickets at crucial junctures. He has played just one game for the Zouks and will look to stamp his authority on the tournament from here on.
An attacking leg-spinner Fawad Ahmed has picked up five wickets in three matches. His economy rate of 8.54 this season is somewhat on the higher side, but it will be rare when Ahmed will not pick up a single wicket in the match. He is a must pick in your team.
