After being removed from India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at the very last moment, Yashasvi Jaiswal will now return to domestic cricket and be part of Mumbai’s team that will face Vidarbha in the semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25, starting February 17 at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium in Nagpur.
Jaiswal had to make way for Varun Chakravarthy in the Indian team. He would now join the likes of Ajinkya Rahane, Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube and Shardul Thakur as some of the stalwarts to have played for the national side in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy side.
Like Jaiswal, Dube is one of the non-travelling reserves in India’s squad for the ICC Champions Trophy.
Before making his ODI debut in the first match of the three-match series against England, Jaiswal played one Ranji Trophy game this season - against Jammu and Kashmir, which Mumbai lost.
The defending champions, however, made it to the last eight after Baroda faltered. They then beat Haryana comprehensively to reach the semis, where they will face an in-form Vidarbha side at home.
