Stuart Law Becomes Second Australian To Be Appointed Nepal's Coach

Law, who appeared in a solitary Test and 54 One-Day Internationals for Australia, last coached the United States of America (USA) in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Stuart Law, a former Australian cricketer, became the second Aussie, after Dav Whatmore, to be appointed head coach of the Nepal senior men’s cricket team, when the announcement was made on March 29 (Saturday).

Law, who appeared in a solitary Test and 54 One-Day Internationals for the Kangaroos, previously coached the United States of America (USA) side in the T20 World Cup 2024.

However, despite seeing them beat Bangladesh in a five-match series ahead of the World Cup and then qualify for the Super 8 stages for the first time in their history on the back of a win against Pakistan, Law was removed as the USA coach in October 2024.

Law replaced Monty Desai as Nepal's head coach, whose two-year contract expired in February 2025. In his earlier coaching stints, Law saw Bangladesh qualify for their first Asia Cup final in 2012. He has also coached Sri Lanka, West Indies and Afghanistan amongst international sides.

Law’s first assignment as Nepal coach will be to see them gain important points during a tri-series in Scotland involving the Netherlands as the third team. This will be part of the World Cup League 2 fixtures, where Nepal are currently in the second-last position.

The top four teams from World Cup League 2 will move to the ODI World Cup 2027 Qualifier.
