Sunil Narine, on December 3 (Wednesday), became only the third bowler in the history of T20 cricket to claim 600 or more wickets. He achieved the feat by dismissing Tom Abell of the Sharjah Warriorz while playing for the Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in an International League T20 (ILT20) 2025-26 match.
The two other bowlers to have achieved the feat are Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (681) and Narine’s compatriot from the West Indies, Dwayne Bravo (631).
The Knight Riders family, of which Narine has been an integral part, having represented it almost everywhere, including the franchises of Kolkata, Trinidad, Abu Dhabi and Los Angeles, celebrated the legend’s achievement with a special shirt with 600 written on it.
“The Knight Riders family stands immensely proud of Narine’s extraordinary achievement, recognising that this record may well stand the test of time,” Times of India quoted the franchise saying in a statement.
At 37, Narine was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for IPL 2026 as well.
