SRH Star In Line For T20I Debut After Being Called Up For Bangladesh Series
He has already played six ODIs and impressed big time in IPL 2025
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) young superstar Eshan Malinga is all set to make his T20I debut after receiving a maiden T20I call-up for the three-match series against Bangladesh starting July 10 (Thursday) in Pallekele.
Malinga, 24, has already played six ODIs for Sri Lanka but his T20I call-up comes on the back of an impressive Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season for SRH, where he took 13 wickets in 7 games. Malinga primarily bowled with the older ball and troubled batters with some serious reverse-swing.
RCB’s Nuwan Thushara and CSK’s Matheesha Pathirana have also been named in the squad, as has Dasun Shanaka, who was picked by GT as a replacement player for Glenn Phillips in IPL 2025. The squad also features the return of all-rounder Chamika Karunaratne, who played a T20I two years ago away in New Zealand.
The three-match T20I series will be played from July 10 to July 16, across three venues: Pallekele, Dambulla and Colombo. The ongoing three-match ODI series is currently tied at 1-1, with Bangladesh winning the second game by 16 runs after suffering a 77-run defeat in the first ODI.
