Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Lucknow Super Giants, Match 12, IPL 2022: Fantasy Preview

Here are a few tips that might help you create your fantasy team for Match 12 of IPL 2022 between SRH and LSG

Two sides that had contrasting results in their respective previous matches, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Lucknow Super Giants will go head-to-head at the DY Patil Stadium on Monday in what will be Match 12 of the 2022 Indian Premier League season. While Lucknow, led by Rahul, registered their maiden IPL win a few days back, the Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers side are yet to open their account this season. In fact, SRH have lost 12 of their previous 15 games in the IPL. It goes without saying that the Orange Army will be desperate to register a win and get their campaign up and running.

Availability of overseas players

Lucknow will have at their disposal the West Indies pair of Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers for Monday’s encounter. The duo missed the first two games of the season due to the Tests against England coinciding with the start of the season.

Ground Details

To date, three matches have been played at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai, and it has been a pretty high-scoring ground, unsurprisingly. The average first innings score has been 175, with 190+ totals breached two out of three times. In the first game at this venue, Punjab Kings chased the 205 posted by RCB with an over to spare.

And yes, it has been a bowl-first venue like most. Of the three matches, two have been won by the chasing side.

With the ball, the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy stadium has been dominated by the pacers. Of the 38 wickets to have fallen at the venue this season, 27 have been taken by the quicker bowlers. That’s 71.1%, quite a high percentage.

Interestingly, however, the pacers have gone for plenty, while the spinners have been economical. While the pacers have leaked runs at 9 runs per over, the spinners’ ER has been just 7.9. Notably, this is also the venue at which RCB’s Wanindu Hasaranga took a 4-wicket haul (vs KKR).

Team Suggestion

Captain selection

Jason Holder, on Monday, is set to play his first IPL game of the 2022 season, and we’re wasting no time: he is our choice for captain. The Windies all-rounder might be switching formats, but thus far in 2022, in T20I cricket, he’s taken 16 wkts in 7 games. He is yet to set the stage alight with the bat this year, but Holder has shown many a time in the IPL itself, just how big a force of nature he could be with the ball in hand. Trust him the hit the ground running from game one.

Our Criclytics Player Projector predicts Holder to take 2-3 wickets and score 8-12 runs

X-factors

Lucknow chased down 211 in their previous encounter, but an unsung hero was Ravi Bishnoi, who remarkably finished with figures of 2/24 on a wicket where over 420 runs were scored. Bishnoi troubled even the well-set CSK batters, and played a significant hand in ensuring that the Super Kings did not bat the Super Giants out of the contest. In the form he’s in, he will be a menace once again come Monday.

Our Criclytics Player Projector predicts Bishnoi to take 0-1 wickets vs SRH

SRH, as a team, had a game to forget vs RR, but a silver lining for them in that contest was Aiden Markram. Batting at No.5, making his debut for the franchise, the South African smashed an unbeaten 57 off just 41 balls and stood his ground even though wickets kept tumbling at the other end. His knock meant that the Sunrisers’ NRR did not take too much of a beating. Markram’s been outrageously good in T20s in the past year or so; expect him to carry on the good work.

Our Criclytics Player Projector predicts Markram to score between 30-44 runs vs LSG

A lot of people questioned Deepak Hooda’s call-up to the national team, but thus far this season, the right-hander has shown why the selectors rate him highly: he’s smashed 68 runs at a healthy SR of 138.77, playing two contrasting yet important knocks. Against CSK, he played a crucial came of 13 that ensured that LSG did not lose momentum in the chase. He will once again be a player to watch out for, come Monday.

Our Criclytics Player Projector predicts Hooda to score between 18-26 runs against SRH
