Surrey sign Sai Sudharsan for three County fixtures

Surrey will be without several players for the final games of the season due to England call-ups and the ODI World Cup

Surrey have signed Sai Sudharsan for the remaining of their three County Championship fixtures, the club announced on Thursday (August 31).

The young left-handed batter will be available for Surrey’s game against Warwickshire starting September 3 at The Kia Oval as well as fixtures against Northants (19-22 September, The Kia Oval) and Hampshire (26-29 September, Ageas Bowl).

“With the busy schedule of international and domestic cricket around the world, I’m pleased to add Sai Sudharsan to our available squad of players,” said Alec Stewart, the Director of Cricket at Surrey CCC.

“Sai has come highly recommended to me by people I hugely respect, including a couple of the greats of the Indian game, who have seen and worked closely with him. Sai will add to the batting options for the final three games of the season, and we look forward to welcoming him to the dressing room.”

The 21-year-old has only played eight first-class games, scoring 598 runs at an average of 42.71. Sudharsan had a phenomenal IPL 2023 for Gujarat Titans and even smashed 96 in the final against Chennai Super Kings.

Surrey will be without several players for the final fixtures of the season due to England call-ups for the white-ball series against New Zealand and the ODI World Cup.

Overseas players Tom Latham and Sean Abbott, who have both represented Surrey this year, are involved in international series for New Zealand and Australia respectively.
