T Natarajan set to miss remainder of IPL 2021 with knee injury

The 30-year-old made his debut for India in all three formats

Sunrisers Hyderabad pacer T Natarajan will not take any further part in the ongoing Indian Premier League after aggravating his knee injury. The 30-year-old, who has played only two matches this season, was in terrific form coming into the IPL and had made his debut for the Indian team in all three formats of the game.

Cricbuzz reported that the pacer could be asked to report back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore where he spent a considerable amount of time after the Australia tour. Although it is not clear when he aggravated his injury, the report stated that the NCA physios have been monitoring his fitness status for some time. As a matter of fact, he didn't play in the last two games for SRH.

"We have not got the full report but we have been told that he has developed a strain in the knee. He will have to undergo rehab in the NCA," the report added a source as saying.

Yesterday, SRH captain David Warner had mentioned that the Tamil Nadu spinner has got a sore knee but there was no mention of him being ruled out of the IPL.

"He has obviously got a sore knee. Given the circumstance in these bubbles, if he goes and gets a scan, he obviously has to sit out for seven days. He has to get back in quarantine. We are just monitoring him at the moment. The physios are doing their best to analyse from a face point of view but he obviously has to go out and get a scan at some point," Warner had said.
