Tamim Iqbal returns for Ireland Test, Zakir ruled out

Tamim missed Bangladesh’s two-match Test series against India due to an injury

The veteran Tamim Iqbal is back in the Bangladesh squad for the one-off Test against Ireland, starting April 4, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. Alongside the veteran, Shadman Islam, Shoriful Islam and Ebadot Hossain all too make an appearance in the 14-man squad, that was announced on Saturday.

Zakir Hasan, who impressed one and all during the two-match series against India is unavailable for selection, after fracturing his finger.

"Zakir fractured his finger and that is the reason we could not include him in the squad and it is quite disappointing considering the fact he played well against India

"The return of Tamim will surely bolster our strength while we have also included Shadman considering his recent form," National chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz.

Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Rejaur Rahman and Nasum Ahmed, who all were there in the squad for the India series have been dropped. Given that Shakib Al Hasan and Litton Kumar Das are part of the Test squad, they would only be allowed to play for Kolkata Knight Riders after the conclusion of the Test.

"When the Indian Cricket Board asked 'when I am available and whether I am available for the whole time or not', the NOC board informed them from which point I can play and for how long. There it was stated that if we have international commitments then the board won't allow it," Shakib told reporters during a private event, added Cricbuzz.

Squad: Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Litton Das (Vice Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Shoriful Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy
