A knee injury has ruled Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain out of the upcoming Asia Cup in Pakistan and Sri Lanka, which resulted in Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) selectors picking Tanzim Hasan as a replacement.
When 10 days ago, BCB announced the squad Ebadot found himself in the 17-member contingent, but despite the rehab, he hasn’t fully recovered. It is not yet clear whether Ebadot will be fit for the World Cup.
"Ebadot had undergone six weeks of rehab following the injury. We have had multiple MRIs done during this time, and the reports suggest that his ACL is still a concern and requires further management," BCB's chief sports physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury said.
“Therefore, he misses out on the Asia Cup. Considering the importance of the Bangladesh team's next major event, the ICC World Cup in October, the BCB is committed to exploring every safe medical option available for getting Ebadot back to full fitness and playing as early as possible, including consultation and treatment overseas."
Since making his debut in August 2022, Ebadot has been very impressive, which made it apparent that BCB are doing their best to make him fit for the World Cup. His replacement Tanzim recently picked nine wickets from three matches in the ACC Emerging Men's Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
