Taskin, Shakib to miss home Test series against New Zealand: Report

Taskin has revealed that he played the entirety of the World Cup with a partial tear in his shoulder.

Bangladesh have suffered a double-blow ahead of their two-Test series against New Zealand as the Tigers are set to be without the services of both Taskin Ahmed and Shakib Al Hasan for the Blackcaps assignment. According to Cricbuzz, while Shakib is set to be ruled out due to the finger injury he picked up towards the end of the World Cup, Bangladesh will not be risking Taskin, who is still not 100% and is nursing a shoulder injury.

Taskin, in fact, has revealed that he played the entirety of the World Cup with a partial tear in his shoulder.

"I was playing with a tear in my shoulder and I couldn't find my best rhythm (in the World Cup)," said Taskin, reported Cricbuzz.

"I will not be playing the Test series against New Zealand at home in the coming winter as I want to start rehabilitation after taking some rest and hoping to be available for the T20Is against New Zealand that is scheduled after our home series against them.”

Taskin had an underwhelming World Cup campaign, taking just 5 wickets in 7 appearances at an average of 61.00. Only once in the entire competition did the 28-year-old take more than one wicket in a contest.

The two-Test series will kick-off in Sylhet on November 28th. The second of the two Tests will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka from December 6th.

Post the Tests, Bangladesh will tour New Zealand for a full-fledged white-ball series, starting December 17th (three ODIs and three T20Is).
