In what comes as a blow to R Sai Kishore’s chances of making it to the Asia Cup squad, the left-arm spinner has sustained an injury. Sportstar reports that the injury sustained by Sai Kishore, the specifics of which are unknown, has ruled him out of the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament starting next week.
Sai Kishore was slated to lead the TNCA President’s XI, but youngster Pradosh Ranjan Paul will now lead the side in his absence. Pradosh was originally set to lead TNCA XI, but now that team will be captained by M Shahrukh Khan.
While the extent of Sai Kishore’s injury remains unknown, he’s someone still with an outside chance of making it to the Asia Cup squad, having had a fantastic IPL 2025 where he took 19 wickets -- one of the standout spinners in the tournament.
Post IPL 2025, he led iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to the 2025 Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) title. There, he took 12 wickets at an economy of 5.4 and also scored 129 runs at an average of 26 and a strike rate of nearly 140.00.
Sai Kishore has been named in the South Zone’s squad for the Duleep Trophy as well.
