South Africa captain Temba Bavuma returned to the XI for the second One-Day International (ODI) against India after he was rested for the first game in Ranchi. He was among the three changes to the XI, with Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi also coming. Ryan Rickelton, Ottneil Bartman and Prenelan Subrayen miss out. The Proteas won the toss and opted to bowl, given that dew could be a factor later on.
India's woes at the toss continue as they have lost their 20th one in a row, dating back to the ODI World Cup 2023 final against Australia. India have had multiple captains in this period, including Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, but they have found no luck.
Unlike South Africa, India stand-in skipper KL Rahul announced that they will go in with an unchanged XI for this game.
India XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Washington Sundar, KL Rahul (c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna
South Africa XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma (c), Matthew Breetzke, Tony de Zorzi, Dewald Brevis, Marco Jansen, Corbin Bosch, Keshav Maharaj, Nandre Burger, Lungi Ngidi
India lead the three-match series 1-0, following their 17-run victory in the first ODI in Ranchi.
