Experienced all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate will return to the Netherlands national team after a gap of two years as he was on Friday named in the 15-player squad for the 2021 World T20. Pacer Vivan Kingma and middle-order batter Tom Cooper were the big omissions from the squad led by Pieter Seelaar.
The likes of Fred Klaassen, Logan van Beek, Stephan Myburgh and Roelof van der Merwe also made their return to the side alongside 41-year Ten Doeschate. Spin-bowling all-rounder Colin Ackermann has been named Seelaar's deputy.
"This has probably been my toughest selection process since I've taken over the job," Campbell said in a statement. "I am excited about the blend of experience and youth we're taking to the UAE. Colin Ackermann will step up to the vice-captaincy role and it'll be fantastic to have veteran Ryan ten Doeschate come with us for one last hoorah."
Tobias Visee and Shane Snater will be the travelling reserves. The Dutch, who are drawn alongside Sri Lanka, Ireland and Namibia in Group A, will begin their campaign in Abu Dhabi against Ireland on October 18 at Abu Dhabi followed by Namibia on October 20 and Sri Lanka on October 22 at Sharjah.
