Jason Holder had an excellent outing with the ball and ended the game with figures of 2/19 in his four overs. He got the important wickets of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, as the West Indies ended up defeating India by four runs in a low scoring thriller.
The former WI skipper admitted that the break from the ODI series helped him hit the reset button and give himself some time.
"The amount of cricket I have been playing for the last three years is a lot. So the break from ODIs was well needed," Jason Holder said at the post match presentation.
Not having a lot of runs for their bowlers to defend, it was important for West Indies to bowl tight lines and exert some pressure on the visitors. Holder started his second spell in the 16th over, and straightaway made an impact by scalping the opposition skipper off the first ball.
Later in the over, Sanju Samson also ran himself out to hand West Indies the advantage. That over broke India's back and they failed to recover from that over.
"We made them work hard for their runs. I guess the double-wicket maiden was a turning point. The conditions dictated our total. Pleased with the guys. With the quality side that India is, you always think they will chase that. We always wanted early wickets, and put the pressure back on them."
Earlier on, his consistent lines had helped them tie Suryakumar Yadav (SKY) down. He'd managed to score only 21 runs of his 20 balls till then. The lack of boundaries forced SKY to go after an extremely full delivery from Holder. The edge was found, and Hetmyer plucked a blinder to help West Indies break the crucial partnership between SKY and Tilak Varma.
