Rehan Ahmed turned out to be the hero for Trent Rockets as they managed to notch up an easy win over Northern Superchargers on August 10 (Sunday), one of the first two double-header days in The Hundred 2025.
Not only with the ball, with which he picked up 2/23 in his designated 20 balls, but also with the bat, Ahmed was the man of the hour for the team representing the city and county of Nottingham.
Thanks to this win, the Rockets are one of the only three teams alongside Oval Invincibles (1st) and Southern Brave (3rd) to have won their first two games. They sit in the second position in the Hundred 2025 points table.
Ahmed, alongside West Indian Akeal Hosein, spun a web around Harry Brook-led Superchargers as the two took four important wickets between them. Brook’s 45 off 30 and Graham Clark’s 36 off 22 could only push the Superchargers to 124/9 in their designated 100 balls.
Chasing the target, the Rockets had English legend Joe Root and Tom Banton give them a solid start, notching up 57 in the first 39 balls. They did lose wickets in a clump, but not before Ahmed’s crafty 31 off 26 balls saw them home with four balls to spare.
