'This is the No. 1 spell I have seen in my career," Riyan Parag on Kartik Tyagi

RR managed to hold on to a two-run victory following Tyagi's incredible last over

Riyan Parag did not have a particularly good match against Punjab Kings (PBKS). He managed just four runs with the bat and dropped one of three catches early in the game, to give KL Rahul a life. However, the Rajasthan Royals (RR) bowlers delivered in the death and they eventually scraped home to a two-run victory.

Mustafizur Rahman and Kartik Tyagi defended eight runs between them in the final two overs to help RR pull off a heist in Dubai. Parag rates Taygi's spell as the best he has seen in his career.

"This is the number one spell I have seen in all my career, but I hope Kartik does it for us in the rest of the matches as well. We had a bad day in the field, I rate myself as one of the best fielders, but in the end, I am human and I can drop a catch too," Parag said in the virtual press conference after the game.

When Mustafizur was handed the ball in the 19th over, Parag recalls telling the Bangladesh fast bowler to not let the match finish in that over. "The mood is really nice, cricket is a really funny game. We were in the driving seat after the first innings but we were poor in the field, the game was slipping away," the RR all-rounder said.

"In the 19th over, I was at mid-off, I told Mustafizur Rahman that do not let it finish in this over and we can have a chance in the final two overs. Defending eight runs of last two overs was incredible," he added.

Speaking of the helicopter shot, Parag said it was one of the ways to negotiate yorkers. "Bowlers have perfected the yorker, so the helicopter shot is a way of adding another thing in my armoury. It did not pay off well today but then I am confident, in the next match, if I get the same ball, I'll try the same thing," Parag said.

Earlier, PBKS pacer Arshdeep Singh's five-wicket haul had restricted RR to 185 after they looked set to go past 200 at one stage. Yashasvi Jaiswal (49) and Mahipal Lomror (43) batted extremely well, but the lower middle-order failed to deliver and as a result, one though RR had fallen 15-20 runs short.

The Royals next take on Delhi Capitals (DC) on Saturday (September 25) in Abu Dhabi. Punjab are also in action on the same day and they will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Sharjah.
