Former England captain Michael Vaughan did not mince his words as he called the current Pakistan Test side the worst he has ever seen. Pakistan became the first team to lose a match by an innings despite scoring 500 in their first innings.
"This is the worst Pakistan side I can remember,” Vaughan wrote in his column in the Telegraph.
“But to make 823/7 at 5.5 runs an over while taking few risks and looking in total control, is very special,” wrote Vaughan.
Vaughan also said that the most impressive part of England's victory was the way their bowling attack delivered. “The most impressive thing for me was the way the bowling attack combined. You could tell what everyone's role was. And they stuck to their task gallantly and were right up for the challenge, which is exactly what Brendon McCullum wants to see," he wrote.
With this loss, Pakistan has now tasted defeat in their last six Tests. Ahead of the second Test, they have already made huge calls, with Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Naseem Shah dropped from the squad for the remainder of the series.
The series will resume with the second Test on October 15 (Tuesday) in Multan.
