After a failure in the warm-up clash, RR’s opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was well warmed up, with a stroke-filled 19-ball 48 against England Under-19, on June 27 (Friday). The left-hander was on fire in the contest, smashing three fours and five towering sixes.
Chasing 175, there was an element of doubt whether India’s Under-19 side would employ a quick-fire approach. All those doubts were put to rest when CSK’s Ayush Mhatre smashed a four off the very first ball of the run chase.
Sooryavanshi didn’t take any hostages either, smashing a four off AM French’s bowling. James Minto wasn’t spared either, with Suryavanshi smashing yet another boundary. However, the most damage on the night was when the left-hander decimated Jack Home, smashing the youngster for three sixes in the same over.
With a half-century around the corner, the left-hander went for a cross-batted shot before the left-arm spinner Ralphie Albert got the opener’s wicket. But with 48 off 19 balls, the damage was already done.
