After months of deliberations, Torrent Group has finally took over 67% of Gujarat Titans’ shares, on March 18 (Tuesday) ahead of IPL 2025. The BCCI gave a green signal to the Ahmedabad-based organization for the take over from Irelia Sports India Private Limited (CVC Capital).
While Torrent has 67% of the control, CVC Capitals, the current owners, will still have 33% of the team's shares, continuing some sort of association with the franchise.
Cricbuzz reported that “the sale was completed at an enterprise valuation of INR 7522 crore, meaning Torrent bought the 67 per cent stake for Rs 5035 crore.”
Since their entry into the IPL, Gujarat Titans have had a positive impact, with a title win in their first-ever season before making it to another final in the next year. CVC, who bought the franchise at INR 5625 crore have already seen a 34% appreciation in the value, at an added value of INR 1897 crore.
