Gujarat Titans (GT)’s Sai Sudharsan has been one of the most consistent batters in the Indian Premier League (IPL) since making his debut in 2022. Amongst batters with at least 1000 runs in the IPL since 2023, the left-hander (48.21) has the third-best average, and that tells you a lot about his consistency.
The 23-year-old, however, suffered a rare failure in Match 56 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on May 6 (Tuesday). Sudharsan got out for just 5 off 5 deliveries - only his third single-digit score in his 36 IPL innings.
Chasing a target of 156 on a tricky surface, Sudharsan got off to the mark with a stunning drive for a boundary off Deepak Chahar. The new ball was moving a lot, and it was Trent Boult who got him caught behind with a beautiful away swinger. It was a full delivery, moving away, and Sudharsan ended up edging it to the wicketkeeper.
1.2 overs vs MI, Mumbai, 2025
2.5 overs vs SRH, Hyderabad, 2025
4.6 overs vs RR, Ahmedabad, 2023
5.3 overs vs RCB, Bengaluru, 2024
The left-hander got out on the second delivery of the second over - the earliest he has been dismissed in the IPL. Despite getting out for a low score, Sudharsan is one of the three batters with more than 500 runs in the IPL 2025.
