Trouble For Chinnaswamy as Maharaja Trophy Moved From Bengaluru To Mysuru

KSCA failed to obtain permission from Bengaluru Police to host the event

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has been embroiled in a big controversy ever since 11 people died and many more were injured in a stampede a day after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) victory. A committee by the state government and a tribunal have found the KSCA guilty of mismanagement.

As a result, the police denied KSCA the clearance to host the Maharaja Trophy 2025 games at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The matches will now be held in Mysuru. Meanwhile, the Maharani Trophy is already being held at an alternate venue in Alur, Bengaluru.

According to reports in ESPNCricinfo, this led the franchises to make many temporary but quick arrangements for teams to practice and stay, as the venue remained an issue this season. However, this has raised alarms about another big event which is scheduled to be held at the Chinnaswamy: The women’s ODI World Cup

While no information or concern has been raised by the ICC regarding the same, the authorities can create an issue in hosting those games as a blot has been put on Chinnaswamy after the events in early June this year. Two KSCA officials had already resigned, taking moral responsibility for the incident.
