In a bid to popularise the Women’s T20 Challenge, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Twitter have come up with seven new emojis which the fans can use during conversations. The emojis will be activated by tweeting with the following hashtags: #MithaliRaj or #Mithali, #Harmanpreet or #Harman, #Smriti or #SM18, #WomensT20Challenge, #Velocity, #Supernovas, and #Trailblazers.
During the 2017 Women’s World Cup, Mithali Raj became the first Indian woman cricketer to get an emoji. Now, the likes of Smriti Mandhana and also Harmanpreet Kaur too have one to their names.
Mithali, Harmanpreet and Mithali will lead their teams Velocity, Supernovas and Trailblazers respectively in the Women’s T20 Challenge which begins in Sharjah from November 4. The final will be played at the same venue on November 9.
Some prominent overseas talent in the tournament include Shashikala Siriwardene (Sri Lanka), Salma Khatun (Bangladesh), Leigh Kasperek (New Zealand), Danielle Wyatt (England), Sane Luus (South Africa) and Deandra Dottin (West Indies).
The Supernovas will again defend their title, having beaten Velocity by four wickets in the previous editions’ final in Jaipur. Three-team tournament has been squeezed in between the Indian Premier League (IPL), which will reach its conclusion on November 10.
