NEWSTwo players from the Bangladesh women’s cricket team have tested positive for the Omicron variant of COVID-19. The team recently returned home from Zimbabwe following their participation in the Women's World Cup 2022 qualifiers.
"It will take time to recover and according to protocol we will keep them under watch for two weeks and they will be released after recovering fully," said Bangladesh health and family welfare minister, Zahid Maleque, as quoted by Cricbuzz.
"We are doing contact tracing and tested everyone who had come close to them."
The women’s team, who earlier had to go through a mandatory five-day quarantine period, will now have to stay in quarantine for 14 days.
