Former India Duo Elected As Secretary & Joint Secretary Of Jharkhand State Cricket Association

Left-handed middle-order batter Tiwary featured in three ODIs, while left-arm spinner Nadeem played two Tests for India

Two former Indian cricketers from Jharkhand - Saurabh Tiwary and Shahbaz Nadeem - have been elected as secretary and joint secretary, respectively, of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA), reported the Indian Express on May 19 (Monday).

Left-handed middle-order batter Tiwary featured in three ODIs, while left-arm spinner Nadeem played two Tests for India and claimed eight wickets. Nadeen retired from professional cricket in 2024 after taking 542 wickets in first-class cricket.

Meanwhile, Tiwary scored more than 8000 runs in first-class cricket, studded with 22 centuries and 34 fifties. He also played 93 games in the IPL, while Nadeem featured in 72 encounters.

“There was a group here who approached me and Saurabh asking us to stand for the elections. They wanted us to guide Jharkhand cricket,” Nadeem told the Indian Express.

“Initially, I was in two minds but after giving it a thought we decided to contest the elections. This state has made us cricketers and we have played here for the last 25 years. Now it has given us a chance to be cricket administrators. We feel we can contribute.”
