Unsold At IPL 2025 Auction, AUS Opener Smashes 112* Off 35 Balls In 10-Over Match
He hit 13 sixes in an outrageous onslaught
Carnage unfolded at the Jimmy Powell Oval in the Cayman Islands on July 19 (Saturday) as Australian opener Josh Brown, in a Max60 Caribbean clash, hammered 112* off just 35 balls. Representing the Caribbean Tigers in the 10-over tournament, Brown opened the batting and unleashed an extraordinary onslaught on the Grand Cayman Falcons side, which featured former India international Rishi Dhawan and West Indies’ Miguel Cummins among others.
Brown, who plays for Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League (BBL) and recently represented Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025, blasted 13 sixes in the 35 balls he faced as his side posted 147/1 in 10 overs. In response, Grand Cayman Falcons could only manage 59/8 with Scotland left-arm spinner Mark Watt bowling a terrific spell of 2/7 off his 2 overs.
Brown’s ton was the first ton of the 2025 edition. In fact, before him, only three other batters had managed to post a fifty: Gerhard Erasmus, Nick Hobson and Rishi Dhawan.
31-year-old Brown had registered himself for the IPL 2025 auction, but he did not even make the final shortlist as he went unsold. He had a base price of INR 30 Lakh.
