Unstoppable Dhruv Jurel Hammers Twin Tons Against SA ‘A’ To Continue Sizzling Form
He now has four centuries in his last five red-ball matches
With or without gloves, Dhruv Jurel is making an irresistible case to be a permanent member in India’s starting XI in Tests as the 24-year-old, today, smashed twin tons in the second unofficial Test against South Africa ‘A’.
He backed up his unbeaten 132* in the first innings, where he was the only India ‘A’ batter to cross the 25-run mark, with yet another century to help the hosts take full control of the contest and the series.
India ‘A’ were in all sorts of bother in the second innings at 116/5, and to make matters worse, Rishabh Pant had to go off retired hurt. It meant that Jurel had to initially weather the storm with only the bowling all-rounders for support. He did that to perfection, and he got ample support from the impressive Harsh Dubey, who posted 84make himself.
Dubey perished 16 short of a century but Jurel ensured to it count as he notched up yet another ton. It means that the right-hander now has scored 4 centuries in his last 5 red-ball matches. Pant being fit again means that Jurel won’t be the wicketkeeper for the South Africa Tests, but there’s a good chance he might end up displacing Sai Sudharsan at No.3.
Jurel now has over 2,000 first-class runs and 5 first-class centuries, and he averages over 50.00. At the time of writing this report, he is unbeaten on 117*. Also, in what’s great news for team India, Pant also walked out to bat again after retiring hurt earlier due to taking multiple blows to the body.
