The Uttar Pradesh (UP) T20 League 2025 is seeing some of the former heroes of the state team and those who have had prior experience of the Indian Premier League (IPL), return to form in grand style.
If it was Rinku Singh with his century and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with his swing earlier, it is former UP captain Karan Sharma this time around.
The 26-year-old has smashed his way back to the reckoning with a splendid century for the Kashi Rudras in their match against defending champions Meerut Mavericks on August 23 (Saturday) at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
Karan, who is a former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) opener, having played for them in the 2022 and 2023 seasons, was made captain of Uttar Pradesh on his first-class debut during a Ranji Trophy 2021-22 match against Vidarbha in Gurugram.
In this match against the Mavericks, the Kashi captain went on the attack right from the word go. Opening the innings, Karan hit nine sixes and seven fours in his knock of an unbeaten 107 off just 54 balls. Thanks to this innings of his, the Rudras posted 224/3 in their 20 overs.
