Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Becomes The Most Google-Searched Indian Personality In 2025
Cricket dominated India’s search charts in 2025, with Priyansh Arya, Abhishek Sharma, Shaik Rasheed and leading women’s stars also emerging among the year’s most-searched personalities
14-year-old cricketer from Samstipur, Bihar, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, emerged as India’s most-searched personality in 2025, according to Google’s latest “Year in Search 2025” data.
Still in his early teens, the prodigious young batter stunned the cricketing world with multiple spectacular performances across formats. In the Indian Premier League (IPL), he hammered a blazing 101 off only 38 balls for Rajasthan Royals against the Gujarat Titans, becoming the youngest male player to score a T20 century and registering the fastest by an Indian in the league’s history. His innings featured 11 sixes and seven fours, with the century coming in just 35 deliveries.
His rise was not confined to franchise cricket. Representing India A in the Rising Stars edition of the Asia Cup, Sooryavanshi unleashed a 32-ball century against the United Arab Emirates, dispatching 15 sixes and 11 fours. On the domestic front, while playing for his home state of Bihar, he struck an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls against Maharashtra, becoming the youngest player ever to hit a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Further underlining his meteoric rise, he was named vice-captain for Bihar’s opening matches of the 2025–26 Ranji Trophy, making him the youngest vice-captain in the tournament’s history.
Beyond Sooryavanshi, the “Year in Search 2025” results revealed that cricket broadly dominated India’s digital attention this year. The IPL topped Google’s overall search charts, followed by Google Gemini and the Asia Cup. Other sports events, such as the ICC Champions Trophy and the Pro Kabaddi League, also featured among the most-searched topics.
Within the top trending cricket personalities, Suryavanshi was followed by emerging talents such as Priyansh Arya, Abhishek Sharma, and Shaik Rasheed. Meanwhile, leading women cricketers, including Jemimah Rodrigues and Smriti Mandhana, also featured prominently, reflecting the growing prominence of women’s cricket in India’s sporting discourse since the Women’s ODI World Cup victory.
