Vaibhav Suryavanshi Plays Yet Another Explosive Cameo, But Mhatre’s YODI Struggles Continue
Suryavanshi smashed 38 off 22 balls against Australia U19, hammering eight boundaries in total
He’s lit up India, he’s lit up England and now he’s lighting up Australia. That’s right, there is no stopping Vaibhav Suryavanshi as the 14-year-old continues to turn heads, with him registering yet another impressive cameo in the first Youth ODI against Australia U19 in Brisbane today.
Following scores of 33, 143, 86, 45 & 48 in the YODIs against England U19, Suryavanshi smashed 38 off 22 balls against Australia U19, hammering eight boundaries in total.
A whopping 34 of his 38 runs came in boundaries, with him collecting 7 fours and 1 six. The left-handed youngster opened the batting alongside Ayush Mhatre in pursuit of the 226 set by AUS U19, and his onslaught helped IND U19 reach 50 inside the fifth over of the chase. While Suryavanshi would be slightly disappointed in not turning the start into a big score, his impact is undeniable and he continues to show that he’s levels above the rest of the field at the youth level.
Unlike Suryavanshi, however, it’s not been easy going in YODIs for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star Ayush Mhatre, who now has posted five single-digit scores in his last 6 YODI innings. After scores of 1, 5, 0, 21, 1 in the YODIs against England U19, Mhatre, today, began the Australia tour with a 10-ball 6. The right-hander is the captain of the side. However, Mhatre did have an outstanding two Youth Tests against ENG U19, posting scores of 80, 126, 102 & 32.
The ongoing tour will see IND U19 play 3 YODIs and 2 Youth Tests.
