Varun Chakaravarthy Emulates Jasprit Bumrah To Go Top Of ICC T20I Bowling Rankings
Among the batters, India's Abhishek Sharma continues his dominance at the top
Mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy became just the third Indian player to go top of the ICC T20I bowling rankings, after pacer Jasprit Bumrah and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. This comes after his spells of 1/4 against the UAE and 1/24 against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025.
Chakaravarthy has pipped New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy to claim the top spot for the first time in his career. His previous best was No. 2, which he attained in February.
Other than Chakaravarthy, Bishnoi (8th) is the only other Indian bowler in the top 10, while Axar Patel (12th) and Arshdeep Singh (14th) are among the top 20. Arshdeep, India's highest wicket-taker in T20Is, is yet to feature in the Asia Cup, despite being in the squad.
Among the batters, India's Abhishek Sharma continues to top the batter's rankings following his knocks of 30 off 16 and 31 off 13 against the UAE and Pakistan, respectively. That has helped him gather another 55 rating points to reach 884.
England duo of Phil Salt and Jos Buttler have moved to second and third spots, respectively, following their destructive knocks against South Africa recently. Tilak Varma had dropped two spots to fourth, while India skipper Suryakumar Yadav has dropped one spot to seventh.
