Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) spinner Varun Chakaravarthy has been fined 25 percent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during their game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on May 7 (Wednesday). The 33-year-old has also been handed one demerit point.
Chakaravarthy gave CSK’s middle-order batter Dewald Brevis a send-off after dismissing him in the second innings of Match 57 of the IPL 2025.
“Varun Chakaravarthy admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” said the IPL via a press release.
Chakaravarthy finished with figures of 2/18 but it was CSK who emerged victorious. Brevis (25-ball 52), Urvil Patel (11-ball 31) and Shivam Dube (45 off 40) played important knocks before MS Dhoni got CSK over the line in the final over.

With this defeat, KKR are all but knocked out of the race for the playoffs. Meanwhile, CSK were the first team to get knocked out of the competition.
