WATCH: Vidarbha Triumph Over Kerala To Win Third Ranji Trophy Title

21-year-old Danish Malewar became the Player of the Match for his scores of 153 and 73 in the final

Vidarbha have capped their stellar run in the 2024/25 season of the Ranji Trophy by lifting their third title after defeating Kerala based on first innings lead.

Vidarbha scored 379 in their first innings, with big contributions coming from 21-year-old Player of the Match Danish Malewar and Karun Nair, who scored 153 and 86 runs, respectively.

Kerala, at one stage, was looking to end up near Vidarbha’s first innings score, but Sachin Baby played a wild slog when Kerala was 324/6 and him on 98. It was hard for the first-timers in the Ranji final to come back in the match from that point and gave Vidarbha a 37-run lead in the first innings.

Akshay Wadkar led side built massively on that and batted time as well to be at 375/9 by the second session on Day 5 when both the teams shook hands. Nair made the most of the opportunity to bat in the second innings and scored his ninth hundred of the 2024/25 domestic season.

Last year, Vidarbha fell short of Mumbai in the finals after a brilliant season. However, this time they made it to the finish line and won their third title.

Vidarbha’s Harsh Dubey, who became the first-ever bowler in Ranji Trophy history to pick 70 wickets, became the Player of the Tournament. Yash Rathod, another Vidarbha player, was also the leading run-scorer of the season.
