After days of wait, BCCI’s Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that National Cricket Academy’s head VVS Laxman will travel with the Indian T20 team to Ireland. India are set to clash with Ireland in Dublin on June 26 and 28, immediately after the home series against South Africa. Laxman was earlier involved with the Indian U-19 team, when they won the 50-over U-19 World Cup this year.
Earlier this week, BCCI announced the squad that would play in the home series against South Africa and the squad for the last Test against England. However, BCCI have not yet announced the squad that would take on Ireland in the two-match T20I series.
"He will travel with the Indian team to Dublin" Jay Shah told Cricbuzz, confirming that Laxman will take charge of the India T20 side in the absence of Rahul Dravid, who would be with an Indian team in England.
The arrangement will be similar to the one from last year, when Rahul Dravid took over the coaching role of the Indian side that travelled to Sri Lanka with Ravi Shastri taking the role for the England series.
