VVS Laxman likely to coach India T20Is against Ireland: Report
India head coach Rahul Dravid will be in charge for India's multi-format series against England
National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief VVS Laxman is likely to coach the Indian team traveling to Ireland in June for two T20Is on June 26 and 28, according to a report by ESPNCricinfo.
Indian team head coach Rahul Dravid will be in charge of the England tour in July where India will play one Test, three ODIs and as many T20Is.
India are set to play the postponed fifth Test from their tour last year from July 1-5 at Birmingham which be followed by the three T20Is on July 7, 9, 10 and three ODIs on July 12, 14 and 17.
The BCCI had split the coaching duties between Dravid and former head coach Ravi Shastri when the team was touring England for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and the five-match Test series against the hosts from June to September. Dravid, the then NCA chief, was the head coach of the Indian team that toured Sri Lanka for three ODIs and three T20Is in July, 2021.
Laxman, who took over Dravid as the director of cricket at the NCA this year, was part of the 2022 Under-19 World Cup in the Caribbean. Indian selectors are likely to announce separate squads for both the series in the UK on May 22.
Before that, India are set to host South Africa in five T20Is from June 9-19. India currently lead the five-match Test series last year by 2-1.
