Warner hoping to learn one-handed shots from Pant
David Warner will be available to play for DC Capitals against LSG
Australian opener David Warner said he will look to learn to hit one-handed sixes from Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant. Warner, who had been rested for Australia's limited-overs series against Pakistan, will be available for DC's Thursday's IPL 2022 game against Lucknow Super Giants.
The southpaw expressed his excitement playing for Delhi, for whom he played in the 2009 edition.
""I want to learn how to play the one-handed shots from Rishabh. He's a young guy learning the ropes of leadership and he has been an integral part of the Indian team as well. I am excited and I can't wait to be bat with him in the middle," Warner said in a statement.
Warner, who was released by Sunrisers Hyderabad after a bitter fallout last season, was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 Crore in the mega auction.
"We just need to put our best foot forward and play a complete game. Fielding is the biggest component of the game and if we can hold our catches and field as well as we can, then we can go a long way in this tournament," he said about the match at DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Speaking about working with former Australia captain and DC head coach Ricky Ponting, Warner said: "Ricky has had a fair bit of success with DC. He was a great leader for Australia and now he has a lot of respect as a coach. I am looking forward to working with him."
