Across seven games this season, Mumbai Indians’ Jasprit Bumrah went wicketless. In the three other games prior to this, he had snapped up just the five wickets, leading to the dismal form for the five-time IPL champions. However, Bumrah broke the records, bagging five wickets conceding just ten runs in the clash against KKR.
Following the clash, the pacer shed light on the process, stating that he has been happy with his bowling rhythm throughout the tournament. The 28-year-old also insisted that the criticism from outside the setup does not faze him.
“We prepare for the tournament and we have our own process, we don’t look at the end-result. For me personally, I was happy with the rhythm going on throughout the tournament. There is a lot of noise outside but it doesn’t affect me. I have my personal evaluation and look at the end-result to contribute for the team,” Bumrah said in the post-match press conference.
“Pressure is self-created, I always look at how I do and have not really worried about the outside noise. I’m very realistic on my evaluation and have always been hard on myself. I want to contribute to the team in whatever manner I can. Today was a good day for me.”
Reflecting on Mumbai’s dismal season, the 28-year-old pacer suggested that their inability to close out games has been costly for the franchise. Bumrah, further insisted that the franchise would look to put out a complete performance before the end of the season.
“We have been unable to close out games, we are relatively a new team, we are understanding our own strengths and weakness. It isn’t an excuse but we have never been totally outplayed in the tournament. We are still working towards putting out a complete performance in the rest of the season.”
