Abdul Samad continued his smashing run in the Indian Premier League I(IPL) 2025, as the LSG batter smashed four sixes in the final over against Sandeep Sharma, on April 19 against RR (Saturday). The Jammu and Kashmir batter was on four off five balls heading into the final over, where he smashed 26 runs against the veteran pacer.
Samad started the over with a six over the square-leg region, almost whipping the ball off his legs. The right-hander then read the variations to perfection, standing deep at the crease to hit the slower ball over the mid-wicket boundary for the second six off the over.
It didn’t end there as the 23-year-old then swivelled across to time the ball to perfection for another six - his third of the over as the Rajasthan pacer was put under pressure. The three sixes completely broke Sandeep, as the veteran slipped in his length, bowling a rank full-toss straight in the hitting zone for Samad.
The 23-year-old didn’t miss the juicy opportunity, smashing a six, almost like a home run over the long-on region for the fourth six off the over. It was the joint-most runs that he had conceded in the final over of an IPL innings.
vs CSK - 13 runs, 1 wicket, 1 six
vs GT - 16 runs, 1 four, 1 six
vs DC - 19 runs, 2 fours, 1 six
vs LSG - 27 runs, 4 sixes
Sandeep, too, continued his poor form in the final over in IPL 2025, after conceding 19 and 16 runs in the previous two clashes against Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans.
