The Top End T20 Series 2025 kicked off in Darwin today, and it was Pakistan Shaheens who featured in the curtain-raiser of the competition, taking on a strong Bangladesh ‘A’ unit.Â
Openers Yasir Khan and Khawaja Nafay got Pakistan Shaheens off to a dream start, putting on 118 off the first 11 overs, but the opening partnership ended in controversial fashion, with the two openers clashing.
Miscommunication between the two openers ended Yasir Khan’s stay in the middle, with the 23-year-old getting run-out at the non strikers’ end. There was a ‘yes, no’ situation and poor communication from the striker, Nafay, meant that Yasir had to depart.Â
After getting run-out, however, Yasir lost his cool. He slammed his bat into the ground in frustration, turned around and absolutely tore into his opening partner. Yasir did a lot of finger-pointing and verbally attacked his opening partner Nafay, who just stood there watching.Â
Maybe the two Pakistani openers will talk through their mix up nice and calmly...

Or maybe Yasir and Nafay have a different way of communicating 🫣#TopEndT20 | Live on 7plus pic.twitter.com/40kLUR2PBA
In the end, the run-out didn’t affect the side too much though, as the Shaheens posted 227/4 off their 20 overs.Â
