MS Dhoni walked into Chepauk for the first time as captain this season of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), and it was a sight that the home crowd did not want to miss. The tie against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is not just any match in the Indian Premier League (IPL), but a match that sees one of the most successful captains take charge of the side once again.
The last time Dhoni led CSK was in the IPL 2023 final in Ahmedabad. While many believe that he should have walked away from the sport after that game, here he is, two years on, as he looks to make CSK the most successful team in IPL history.
However, it comes at the cost of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who has been ruled out of the tournament due to a fractured elbow. CSK have made a couple of changes to their XI. Rahul Tripathi comes in for Gaikwad, and Anshul Kamboj replaces Mukesh Choudhary.
CSK's start to the IPL 2025 campaign has not been ideal. They have won just one of their five matches so far and find themselves at ninth in the points table.
