A house full Chinnaswamy awaited with bated breath for the star-studded Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to show some fireworks with the bat as they batted first against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the first home game of the season.
While Smriti Mandhana started with a bang, her innings was short-lived lived and she departed for 26 off 13 deliveries. However, the other big star in the batting order, Ellyse Perry didn’t disappoint and hit some sumptuous shots across the ground.
She scored 11 fours and two sixes in her innings, which was crucial in RCB's reaching 167/7 in their stipulated 20 overs. In the process, she also brought up her highest T20 score in India, which also happened to be the highest score against MI in WPL.

One of the two sixes helped her get to her fifty. Amelia Kerr gave the ball slight air, but Perry was nimble on her feet. She danced down the track and launched the ball for a maximum.
Perry held RCB’s innings together as they lost three wickets in a space of three overs and were 57/4 in 7.2 overs. She was the seventh and last RCB wicket to fall on the penultimate ball of the innings.
