WATCH: CSK Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad Picks Up A Wicket In Buchi Babu Trophy 2025
It took him just three balls to pick up a wicket
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad is known more for his batting prowess than his bowling skills. However, on August 18 (Monday), he picked up a wicket for Maharashtra in the Buchi Babu Trophy 2025 clash against Chhattisgarh.
He picked up the wicket of the No. 11 batter Sourabh Majumdar, caught and bowled, a ball after he was smashed down the ground for a six. The off-break bowler is yet to pick up a wicket in competitive cricket, having bowled a combined 28 deliveries in domestic cricket.
The Maharashtra skipper finished with figures of 0.3-0-7-1 as Chhattisgarh were bowled out for 252. He will now open with Prithvi Shaw when play begins on Day 2.
Overall, it was a good day for Maharashtra as three wickets from Vicky Ostwal and Hitesh Walunj did not allow their opponents to get a big score. Avnish Dhaliwal (52) and Sanjeey Desai (92) put on 84 for the third wicket. Desai then joined hands with Shubham Agarwal (41) to put on 75 for the sixth wicket.
