Cometh the hour, Cometh Desert Vipers’ skipper Sam Curran smoked a 117 m six in the ILT20 final against Dubai Capitals on February 9. The left-handed batter smashed Scott Kuggeleijn in the 19th over of the innings, taking his tally to 48.
At 75/3, the responsibility was on the shoulders of Curran. The all-rounder did not disappoint one bit, soaking in the pressure with a four off his eight ball at the crease. It took him seven more deliveries before smashing a six against the in-form Qais Ahmed.
But the left-hander started accelerating massively in the 18th over when he took on the West Indian bowler Obed McCoy, smashing him for three boundaries in the same over, taking his score to 42 off 26 deliveries.
It was against Kuggeleijn when Curran absolutely smashed the leather off with a massive 117m six, with the ball sailing through to top-tier stands. Curran ended the innings with a swashbuckling 62 off 33 deliveries to take the Vipers 189/5 at the end of their innings. The all-rounder also increased his run tally to 387 runs, the fifth-highest in the tournament.
