Pat Cummins’ elite fitness standards have been a major factor behind his rise as the leading fast bowler of this generation after undergoing a long injury rehabilitation journey.
In the second Test against the West Indies at the National Cricket Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada, skipper Cummins took an unbelievable diving catch in his follow-through to show just how fit and flexible he is as a cricketer in the second innings of his career.
With the home side 40/1 in 8.1 overs in their first innings after Australia scored 286 in theirs, Cummins bowled a good length delivery that nipped back into the right-handed Keacy Carty, who just pressed forward and got a thick inside edge as the ball hit his pads and lobbed up near short-leg.
Cummins sprinted like a Cheetah in his follow-through towards the ball, dived in front of his body and pouched the ball in his palms just inches from the ground. The entire team surrounded him after the stellar effort on the field.
Beau Webster got John Campbell caught by Mitchell Starc soon after, and the West Indies were reduced to 64/3 in 15.2 overs.
