Mumbai Indians (MI) finally have received some good news, as key pacer Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the bowling crease at National Cricket Academy (NCA) on March 31 (Monday). The Indian pacer, who hasn’t played a single game since the Sydney Test against Australia, was seen bowling at full throttle.
Bumrah has been sidelined for well over two months because of a lower back injury and was later out of India’s squad for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. Mumbai Indians’ head coach Mahela Jayawardene already gave a timeline of sorts for Bumrah’s comeback to the five-time IPL-winning setup.
"[Bumrah] has just started his progress. We have to wait and see what their [BCCI medical team] feedback is on him," Jayawardene said, reported ESPNCricinfo.
"At the moment, everything is going well. But, obviously, it is on a day-to-day basis. He is in good spirits. Not having him is a challenge. He is one of the best bowlers in the world, and he has been a fantastic pro for us for many years.”
It appears that Bumrah might be returning to action much sooner than expected and could potentially feature later in the IPL 2025 season.
