Very rarely have we seen a father-son pair playing with each other in a competitive match, and rarer than that is when they play against each other. What transpired on July 22 (Tuesday) in Kabul will certainly make an interesting conversation at the dinner table, as Hassan Eisakhil smashed his father Mohammad Nabi out of the park in the Shpageeza T20 league fixture.
Bowling his first ball of the spell, Nabi, coming from around the wicket, put the ball in his son's arc, and Eisakhil wasted no time in dispatching it over the mid-wicket fence. That left the commentators in splits, as they had witnessed something rare.
“What manners! He is your dad bowling at you, man, first ball, and he dispatches it for a six,” said the commentator on air.
“This is cricket. You might be my father out of the field. I have a lot of respect for you, but if you offer me something like that, I am going to dispatch it,” he added further.
Eisakhil top-scored for Amo Sharks with a 36-ball 52 to help his side to 162. But Nabi's team, Mis Ainak Knights, proved to be too good as they went on to win the match by five wickets with three overs to spare.
However, this is not the first time Eisakhil has hit Nabi for a six. Three years ago at the same venue, the then 16-year-old Eisakhil smashed his dad for a six.
40-year-old Nabi has never dismissed his son in T20 cricket. He has sent down nine deliveries against Eisakhil and has scored 21 runs at a strike rate of 233.3.
Nabi is one of the most renowned names in world cricket. He has played in every league in the world, racking up 445 T20 appearances. He has also played more than 300 games across formats for Afghanistan.
